Native America in Art

September 2008 through January 2009

William Elling Gollings Oil/Board 1910

On September 22. the C.M. Russell Museum opened the exhibition, Native America in Art. The exhibition features artworks from the permanent collection by more than twenty-five artists from the 19th through 21st centuries.

Native America in Art examines the ways in which American Indian life has been portrayed in paintings, prints, and sculpture by both Indian and non-Indian artists. Many of the works of art in the exhibition have not been seen in many years, so one might consider the show to be "treasures from the vault!"
