Since the founding of the Museum in 1953, our members and friends have helped the Museum grow from a small gallery housing 175 Russell works, to a three-building complex with more than 12,000 objects, occupying an entire city block. All this has been made possible through the membership support of people just like you!

Charlie’s Friends of the C.M. Russell Museum

charlie's friendsIn 1991, the C.M. Russell Museum announced the arrival of Charlie’s Friends, a dynamic membership organization involving professionals and families in newly created social, cultural, and educational activities. Their mission: to develop a broader base of interest and support for the Museum.

Today, Charlie’s Friends has achieved recognition in the community for innovative educational and social events, as well as provided a resource of volunteers for numerous Museum events and programs. This energetic group has contributed nearly $35,000 over the years for significant Museum projects – funds raised through their events. In addition, one of the goals of Charlie’s Friends is to develop the contemporary western art collection for the Museum’s permanent collection. The group has acquired major artworks by artists Amy Burnett, Russell Chatham, George Gogas, Donna Howell-Sickles, Valentina LaPier, Walter Piehl, Larry Pirnie, and Kevin Red Star.

Please note: regular membership in the C.M. Russell Museum is a requirement for membership in Charlie’s Friends.
